Description:

The Shooting Master, together with the New Service, saw a 46 year production run, covering both World Wars. This particular revolver, according to the included Colt factory letter, was shipped out on July 19, 1936 to the Sutcliffe Company as a single piece shipment and then returned to the factory on March 22, 1939 (reason unknown) and subsequently reshipped to Barker-Jennings Hardware Company in Lynchburg, Virginia on December 22, 1939. The barrel has the two line block letter address and patent markings on top, "COLT SHOOTING MASTER .45 AUTO" on the left side, and the Verified Proof and Rampant Colt markings on the left side of the frame. Equipped with an elevation adjustable blade front sight and a windage adjustable rear sight, finely checkered hammer and trigger, a six round fluted cylinder, checkered grip straps, and checkered Colt medallion grips. With Colt factory letter, which verifies all features but the grips (stocks are not listed).

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The recover retains approximately 98% of the original blue finish with gray patina forming on some of the high edges, a noticeable cylinder drag line and some minor scratches mostly contained to the barrel. The grips are also excellent with some mild handling marks. There are a couple light nicks in the overall sharp checkering. The markings are clear and crisp.
