Description:

This is an excellent example of a Colt Model 1902 Military automatic pistol manufactured in 1920. The pistol features special order deluxe checkered walnut grips which were put on very few Model 1902 Military pistols. This particular pistol's serial number is listed on page 192 of "The Government Models" by William H.D. Goddard. Under special features/notes it is marked "Ch. Wal." for checkered walnut grips. It also states that this pistol was shipped to Leutkemeyer Co., R.R., Jacob Co. on October 7, 1920. The pistol has the slide serrations on the rear of the slide and a lanyard loop on the left rear of the frame. The left side of the slide is marked with Colt's two line, two block patent marking and address: "PATENTED / APR.20,1897. SEPT.9, 1902" followed by "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG.CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.". The Rampant Colt is stamped behind the slide serrations. The right side of the slide is marked: "AUTOMATIC COLT / CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" in two lines. The left side of the frame has the serial number located above the trigger guard bow. A small numeral "1" and the Colt "VP" triangle proof mark are on the left trigger guard bow. The magazine is the correct two tone marked "MIL. / COLT / 38 CAL." on the floor plate. The pistol features the high polish Colt blue finish with casehardened hammer and lanyard ring.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The pistol retains approximately 98% of the original finish with thinning on the lower right rear of the frame and backstrap and some high edge wear. The grips are excellent with a few minor pressure dents on the lower left panel, upper right panel has sharp checkering. An extremely rare special order 1902 pistol with deluxe checkered walnut grips that is in the factory records by serial number.
