Manufactured in 1950, this Winchester Model 97 shotgun is from the Roy Rogers Collection and was given to him by the famous WW II metal of honor winner, Audie Murphy. The shotgun is accompanied by a framed 8 x 10 black & white photograph of Roy Rogers and Audie Murphy autographed by Audie Murphy. Also with the lot is a Certificate of Authenticity stating that the shotgun was a gift from Audie Murphy (signed in the stock), that it was personally owned and used by Roy Rogers and more recently was displayed at the Roy Rogers - Dale Evans Museum in Branson, Missouri. The certificate is dated Feb. 25, 2009 and signed by Roy Rogers Jr.. The shotgun has the standard barrel markings, a single brass bead sight, chambered for 2 3/4" shells and choked cylinder. 14 rib, flat bottom forearm and smooth pistol grip stock with Audie Murphy's signature carved into each side and fitted with a vented Pachmayr recoil pad. Length of pull approximately 13 1/2".

Partially refinished. The shotgun retains approximately 85% original finish with some thinning on the breech end of the barrel and wear on the refinished magazine tube and slide bar from cycling the action. The exposed areas have a smooth gray patina. The receiver is thinning to a smooth plum blue with some high edge wear. There are as few minor dings and scratches overall. The wood is good. The left side of the stock has been lightly sanded and refinished. The forearm has a hand rubbed finish and overall there are scattered minor dings and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
