Description:

Bayonet lug front sight and shallow groove rear sight, with a "crown/ GP/ arrow" and a crossed scepter proof on the upper left side of the chamber. Lightly border engraved lock plate, with a goose neck hammer, "TOWER" marked vertically at the rear and King George III's "crown/ GR" royal cypher in front, along with the "crown / broad arrow" army property mark. Smooth straight grip stock, with brass forearm tip, ramrod pipes, trigger guard, reverse plate and butt, an iron ramrod with button tip, unmarked reverse plate, sling swivels and flat butt.

Rating Definition:

Good. Scattered pitting overall, with the barrel showing a mixed dark patina, lighter colors on the lock, and fine aged brass. A crack is visible in the hammer with extensive pitting present around touchhole and pan (on the lock plate). Stock is period revarnished, with some dings and worm holes on the buttstock, cracking and holes around the reverse plate and lock, and scattered dings and chips. Mechanically fine.
