Description:

This is a pre-Civil War Era Sharps Military Rifle that falls in the serial range very close to the Berdan Sharpshooter Model 1859 Rifle. Blade front and Lawrence patent rear sights, on barrel with early style sword bayonet lug, 3-line Hartford address and New Model markings. Standard patent markings on the receiver, with the primer system present but disabled. Smooth straight grip stock, with three barrel bands, sling swivels and a patch box on the right hand side of the butt.

Rating Definition:

Good. The barrel shows a mottled brown patina, with some pitting and dings. Receiver is good, with moderate pitting around the nipple and mild dings overall. Reoiled stock, with small chips and filled areas, and some dents. Mechanically fair.
