Description:

Produced between 1840 and 1846 by Lemuel Pomeroy of Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with bayonet lug on the underside of the muzzle, "U.S./ NWP/ P" on the breech and "1843" on the upper tang. Cone, or Belgian, type conversion, with the hammer turned inward to reach the nipple, the flashpan cleanly milled down and filled, and the external springs removed, with the lock marked with an eagle and shield motif above "L. POMEROY" in front of the hammer and "1843/ U.S." vertically behind. Smooth straight grip stock, with three barrel bands, trumpet-head ramrod, sling swivels, a pair of faint cartouches on the reverse of the lock and a "U.S." marked flat buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine as professionally refinished. The barrel shows a mixed brown and deep blue color overall, with some light dings and pitting below the surface. Stock is fine, with some mild pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically fine.
