Manufactured by the Manhattan Firearms Company and sold under the London Pistol Company name, these revolvers were sold to dispose of second-quality pieces without damaging the Manhattan name. Only a few hundred London Pistol Company revolvers were manufactured. This pistol is the 5 shot Series 1 type. The top barrel flat is marked "LONDON PISTOL COMPANY" and the December 1859 patent date is on the frame underside. The serial number is stamped on the bottom barrel flat. The cylinder is roll engraved with a stagecoach holdup scene and the frame and backstrap are broad scroll engraved on a punch-dot background.

Very good. Overall the metal surfaces have a smooth gray patina mixed with traces of blue, a smooth dark patina strongest on the barrel and some minor spotting mostly on the barrel. Most of the cylinder engraving remains. The frame engraving is clear. The grips are very good, having a pleasant hand rubbed patina with some mild scratches and some minor dings on the butt. Mechanically fine.
