Description:

Produced in the 1850's and 60's, using a unique trigger cocking mechanism that could cause confusion with soldiers trained on Colt or Remington single actions. Blade and hammer notch sights, with the one line Starr address located on the left side of the frame and patent date stamped on the reverse. Serial number is located on the frame, cylinder, in the hammer well, and on the inside of the hammer, with single letter inspector marks stamped on most components. Smooth one-piece walnut grip with a faint cartouche on either side. With a set of four bullet molds, two iron 30 caliber 2-chamber ball with octagon barrel wrenches, one iron 2-chamber ball and cone 38 caliber with Manhattan Arms marked sprue cutter, and one brass single cone chamber mold with wood handle branded ".44 Starr/ Revolver" and unmarked blue cutter.

Rating Definition:

Good, with traces of original blue visible on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel in the area protected by the loading lever. The remainder has turned a smooth gray patina with a brown patina concentrated in the protected areas, a few dings on the rear face of the cylinder, and scattered handling marks and spotting. Grips are fair, with dents, chips and varnish loss. Mechanically functions, but trigger return spring is weak (needs work). Molds are good, with wear appropriate to use.
