Description:

1) Magnificent pair of extra fancy parade spurs, the 4 1/2" in diameter rowels on these spurs are the largest of any in this auction. Thirty-six 1/2" wide at base points surround an engraved wheel hub. The straight shanks holding these rowels are highly filigreed with embossed lines on top and bottom of each shank leg ending at a base decorated with stars and column shaped hilt. The shank is riveted to the heel band and peened over to retain it in place. The 3/4" tapering to 1/2" straight heel band is etched with geometric pattern. It widens to 3/4" to brass tacked end with ornate 5/8" strap eyelets. Simple 1/2" tan leather straps complete these highly unusual spurs. 2) California style spurs marked "E GARCIA 45-2" on inside of heel band. These are silver overlaid spurs with 3/4" straight cut out heel band, drop shank with chap guard, jingle bobs and 12-pointed 1 1/4" rowels. The heel band consists of two crescent moons flanking a domed concho. The chap guard is round and barrel shaped with black and silver bands running lengthwise. Engraved silver is paisley and lace pattern. Swinging buttons are silver with black bands. Double heel chain. 3 1/2" wide brown leather straps with scalloped tooling on borders and large silver buckle. Straps are marked "JERRY DYCK/MAKER/Pinesville, OR.".

Rating Definition:

1) Excellent. All etching and silver inlay designs are clear and crisp. 2) Very good with dark aged patina showing light and slightly pitted finish on unplated portions of spur. Engraving is crisp and clear. Leather is good with some wear.
