Description:

The barrel with its patent breech and solid under rib is marked " B. REISSMEELER" and features a blade front sight and a rear sight that is adjustable for elevation. The stock has a semi-square cheekpiece and shows an attractive tiger stripe figure in the buttstock. The rifle is iron mounted and includes a trigger guard with double set triggers, toe plate, cap box with nickel lid and crescent buttplate. The forend has a pewter nose cap and nickel barrel key escutcheons. The back action lock is lightly engraved with a floral design as is the patent breech and barrel tang, trigger guard front finial, cap box and toe plate. The builder was Bernard Reissmeeler Milwaukee, Wis. 1860 to 1875.

Rating Definition:

Good. The barrel is a brown patina with overall light pitting with the buttplate showing heavy pitting, the rest of the mounts are a smooth mottled brown with areas of light pitting. The wood is good with a couple of hairline cracks on either side of the forearm. Mechanically fine.
