Description:

This is an excellent example of a late, Type 2 NM M1 rifle. The receiver markings are as follows: "U.S. RIFLE, CAL. 30 M1, SPRINGFIELD ARMORY" over the serial number. The right side of the receiver is marked "T17 over F6528291", and the barrel is marked "SA F6535448 9-54 A213B" with the "P" and "M" proofmarks. The front portion of the exposed barrel has the correct "NM" markings on the left side. The various parts are marked as follows: Trigger housing: D28290-12-SA; Trigger guard: stamped unmarked; Hammer: SA C5546008; Safety: MXR; Bolt: 6528287-SA over A16; Operating Rod: 7790722-RA with "NM" on top of the cocking handle; Bullet Guide: stamped marked 12; Follower Arm: unmarked; Op Rod Catch Assy: single bevel unmarked. The rear sight set is the late post-war NM version that is marked "NHC" and "NM" on the windage knob. The sight base id marked "NM2/A" and the aperture is also the late hooded version marked ".595" and "NM". The gas cylinder is a late post war version marked "NM" on the rear tang with the wide base, high hump gas cylinder lock, and the late four slot gas plug. The front sight is also marked "NM/062" on the right side. The stock and handguards are the correct walnut versions; they have the late accuracy improvements where the barrel band and front handguard have been unitized (glued together ONLY) and the stock has been glass bedded. The left side of the stock has the DOD acceptance cartouche and a single "P" proof in the pistol grip area.

Rating Definition:

Near new, totally original, overall with 9% plus of the original parkerized finish remaining overall with slight wear on the edges and high spots overall. The stock and handguards are all in excellent condition and show minimal handling marks. The cartouches are clear and sharp. An exceptional example of a National Match M1totally original U.S. Springfield rifle.
