A) Barry C. Wood Underhammer Smoothbore Pistol

Description:

Fixed sights, with "B.C. WOOD/ P. POST. N.Y." on the upper tang and a wood ramrod. Bar hammer, with a checkered spur and mainspring trigger guard. Smooth grip, with a knuckle on the backstrap, iron front strap and a brass cap.

Rating Definition:

Fair, with a mixed brown and gray patina, scattered pitting, mild handling marks and dark spots. Grip is very good, with some pressure dents and varnish loss. Buttcap shows signs of being used as a hammer. Mechanically very good.

Fixed sights, with punch-dot engraving on and behind the muzzle. Bar hammer with a smooth spur. Smooth, sharply angled grip, with a iron band running from breech to rear sight.

Rating Definition:

Fair, with a mixed gray patina and visible pitting, heaviest on the barrel and around the nipple. Grips are very good, with light pressure dents. Mechanically very good.

Description:

Fixed sights, with engraved burst and floral patterns on the upper flats and tang. Bar hammer and smooth tiger stripe grips with a one piece brass grip strap.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with a mixed gray and brown patina overall, bright gray on the high edges, scattered spotting and a few minor pits. Repaired grip, with a mended chip in the left side and some smaller chips and pressure dents. Fine brass, with an attractive mixed patina. Needs adjustment to action.
