This is an example of a U.S. Remington Model 1903-A4 Sniper Rifle with the DCM Rock Island Arsenal shipping carton. The rifle has been factory overhauled and has an even gray-green parkerized finish on all components. The WWII production, pistol grip, "C" stock has an oil finish. The rifle has the correct bolt with handle milled for telescopic sight clearance and is fitted with a parkerized telescopic sight mount with "REDFIELD" markings on the right rear. The barrel, correctly, is not fitted with a front sight. The receiver is marked with the distinctive Model 1903-A4 off-set makings that consist of: "U.S./REMINGTON/MODEL 03-A3" on the left side of the mount and the serial number, "3422733" on the right side of the mount. The barrel is marked: "RA/Ordnance Shell And Flame/8-43". The left side of the butt is stamped with the Rock Island Arsenal overhaul mark: "RIA/EB" in a rectangle. An encircled "P" proofmarks is stamped on the bottom of the pistol grip. The distinctive Remington sub-inspection marks are stamped on the bottom of the stock in front of the handguard. The cardboard shipping carton is stenciled with the rifle stock number "1005-674-1521/RIFLE, 1903A4 SER. NR. 3422733". The shipping label is addressed: "FROM/COMMANDING OFFICER/ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL/ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS 61202" to a Parma, Ohio , address. The carton is complete with the original paper rifle wrapper. The rifle, correctly, is not fitted with a telescopic sight (after the assignation of President Kennedy, the Army directed removal of the telescopic sights from Model 1903A4 rifles prior to their sale).

Near mint as arsenal overhauled. The rifle appears to be un-fired and remains in the same condition as when it was overhauled by Rock Island Arsenal in the 1950s. The barrel, receiver, furniture and scope mount have nearly 100% of the arsenal parkerized finish. The stock was sanded during overhaul, has never been re-oiled and shows only very minor storage wear. The cardboard carton remains in very good condition. This is a rare example of a desirable Remington Model 1903-A4 Sniper Rifle (no scope) in un-issued, as over-hauled condition with the original serial-numbered shipping carton.
