This is an unusual example of a Smith & Wesson model 10 shotgun that has either been produced or modified to a trench style shotgun. The left side of the receiver has the typical large intertwined "S&W" logo with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" roll marked along the top edge of the receiver. The right side of the receiver has the large "U.S./Ordnance Bomb" proof and the left side of the but stock and pistol grip area also have a smaller stamped "U.S./Ordnance Bomb" proof. There are partial markings (proof tested and chamber markings) visible on the left side of the barrel, which is mostly covered with a unmarked four hole military style metal heat shield, with the Model 1917 bayonet lug on the front end. It has the standard length magazine tube and the top rear of the barrel is marked with the same "U.S./Ordnance Bomb" proof. It is fitted with a walnut stock and pump handle, as noted above it is also marked with "US" proofs. Length of pull approximately 13 3/4". The stock and bayonet lug are fitted with sling swivels. Currently the metal parts have a light gray parkerized finish with an oil finish on the wood. It is complete with a Winchester marked Model 1917 bayonet and leather scabbard.

Possibly arsenal refurbished overall with 99% of a late gray parkerized finish overall. The stock and pump handle are in mint condition with no handling marks with a nice matching dark brown oil stained finish. The bayonet also has 99% of the same light gray colored parkerized finish with a 90% of a dyed black finish on the leather scabbard with the throat and tip have 90% of a black painted finish.
