Description:

This is a nice example of a WWI Springfield Model 1903 Mark I rifle. The top of the receiver has the standard markings of "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY / MODEL 1903 / MARK I / 1133107" and the barrel is marked "HS / ordnance bomb / 7-44" behind the front sight. It has the correct ejection port on the left side of the receiver with all milled components, (trigger guard, floor plate, and barrel bands). It has the standard tangent military rear sight graduated to 2,800 yards with the standard blade front sight. It is fitted with a WWI straight handle bolt that is marked with a "D3" on the underside of the safety lug. It has a late WWI "S" type, two-bolt finger groove stock (not a MKI style) with a later WWII hand guard.

Rating Definition:

Arsenal refurbished overall with 40% WWII gray parkerized finish that is evenly fading overall. The stock shows signs of light sanding overall but is solid without any crack or damage, showing a field repair directly behind the rear tang and on the under side of the forend behind the lower barrel bands. The left side of the receiver has been modified with the Hatcher hole when the barrel was replaced.
