Description:

US M1 Garand as manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company, in January, 1944. The top of the receiver is marked "U.S RIFLE /CAL 30, M1" over "WINCHESTER". Currently it has the following "Winchester" marked parts, operating rod (unmodified), bolt, trigger guard, trigger housing, hammer and stock. The barrel is marked "3-SA-7-45" and the rear sights are the correct WWII version with the knurled windage and elevation knobs, with the closed "Arrows" on each side and the type two locking bar on the right side. The gas cylinder is the post-war wide base variation with the high hump gas cylinder lock. The buttstock is proofed on the left side with a boxed "W.R.A. over G.H.D" cartouche, the crossed cannon Ordnance cartouche and a single circled "P" proof in the pistol grip area. With an original bolt take-down/chamber brush combination tool in the buttstock.

Rating Definition:

Refinished overall with 98% of a late gray reparkerized finish, with most of the finish loss on the edges and high spots and right side of the receiver rail. Stock has been completely sanded, restained and oiled. The cartouches are restamped (incorrect style) with a pair of small, carefully filled holes on the right side of the buttstock. Mechanically excellent.
