Description:

This M1 Garand Rifle was manufactured by Harrington & Richardson Arms Co., in 1955. The rifle has a gray parkerized finish with walnut stock, handguard and forearm. The rifle has been arsenal overhauled. It retains the original H&R "3-55" dated barrel, "H.R.A." marked bolt, operating rod and rear sights but has a Springfield Armory trigger housing group, and early gas cylinder lock. The stock has "3334" stamped in the barrel channel which indicates it may have originally been installed on an International Harvester M1 rifle. The stock has the National Defense inspection mark stamped on the left side and an encircled, serifed, "P" proofmark on the inside of the pistol grip. A rack number, "95" is painted on the bottom of the pistol grip. The rifle is fitted with a post-war, olive drab, web sling. The rifle is complete with a WWII "PAL" M1 Bayonet with spear point blade. The bayonet has a dark gray parkerized finish and is fitted with black plastic handles. The ricasso is stamped with "PAL" in an oval above "U/Ordnance 'Shell &Flame/S".

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The rifle retains approximately 80% of the thin original gray-green parkerized finish. The barrel chamber is bright which indicated that the barrel and receiver have not been refinished. Most of the wear is concentrated on the gas cylinder which has a silver-gray patina. Markings on the barrel and receiver are sharp. The stock, handguard and forearm are in very good overall condition with moderate handling wear; the final inspection mark on the left side of the stock is light but legible. The bayonet has been arsenal refinished and retains all of the parkerizing and shows minimal wear.
