Description:

Produced in 1913, one of 1000 sent to the U.S. Navy Yard in Brooklyn on August 23rd. Slightly thinned front and standard rear sights, with the two line, two block Colt patent dates and address on the left side of the slide, "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY" on the right, and "H" above the firing pin stop. Walter G. Penfield's monogram stamp is present above the magazine catch, with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" ahead of the slide stop and "No" style serial number on the reverse. Blue Colt barrel, marked "P" and "H" on top of the chamber, and "J" on the left side of the lug. An additional "H" is stamped near the disconnect hole, larger than the one on the slide. Fitted with a long smooth trigger, wide checkered hammer, checkered thumb safety and slide catch, short grip safety and checkered wood grips with diamond screw patterns. Full blue magazine with no makers letter and a lanyard staple.

Rating Definition:

Fine with replaced Army contract slide (needs Navy slide to be proper), with approximately 60-70% of the blue finish. A mixed gray patina has formed on the front strap, mainspring housing, front sides of the frame, and along the high edges, with hints of brown around the borders of the gray areas and some mild etching and spotting. The grips are fine, with mild pressure dents. Mechanically excellent.
