The swivel barrel, single shot pistol has the high polish Smith & Wesson blue finish. The two-piece grips are varnished and inlaid with German silver Smith & Wesson medallions. Fixed Patridge front and adjustable target rear sights. The top of the barrel rib is roll-stamped "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A. PAT'D. DEC, 4, 1923" the left side of the barrel is marked "SMITH & WESSON" and the Smith & Wesson trademark is roll-stamped on the left side of the frame behind the grips. The right side of the barrel is marked "22 LONG RIFLE CTG" and "MADE IN U.S.A." is stamped on the right side of the frame above the trigger. The serial number is located on the pistol butt. Complete with the original factory case and accessories. The blue finished case has the Smith & Wesson logo embossed on the lid, fitted green felt interior and contains a jewelers screwdriver, steel cleaning rod with hard rubber handle and a screw in tip. Smith & Wesson manufactured 1,870 fourth mode straight line target pistols between 1925 and 1936. this pistol is one of the very last examples of this model manufactured by Smith & Wesson.

Near mint, retaining nearly all of the Smith & Wesson high polish blue finish, showing only very minor storage marks. Grips are near mint, with wear limited to faint compression marks. The sight and grip screws have no tool marks. The case retains about 95% of the original blue, with some thinning on the bottom, and excellent interior with limited some oil stains on the edge. Tools are in new condition. This is a nearly new example of a scarce Smith & Wesson line target pistol with original case.
