This is an early second model in excellent unaltered condition that was probably made around 1888 in rare nickel finish. Features pinned half moon front and fixed frame notch rear sights (i.e. Service sights) on a fluted solid rib barrel with knurled push button thumb piece on the top latch, casehardened trigger, blued trigger guard, 5 shot-fluted cylinder, checkered grip safety, and Smith & Wesson brown checkered hard rubber grips with the Smith & Wesson embossed circular logo at the top. The top of the barrel rib is marked with the standard two line address/patent date information.

Excellent, 98% original nickel finish with some minor flaking/oxidation on the edges of the grip straps, grip safety, right rear side plate and underside of the trigger guard. The trigger guard retains 95% blue finish with thinning and fading on the bow. The top mounted cylinder latch retains 98% bright blue, with 40% fading case colors on the trigger. The grips are in excellent condition, with only a minor scratch on the butt of the left grip. It has all matching serial numbers. The markings are clear and the action is excellent.
