According to the included factory letter, these pistols were shipped as a pair to Trout Lake Hardware of Trout Lake, Michigan on September 11, 1959. Excluding the common "Not Listed" grips, the letter confirms the major features. Blade front and notch rear sights, with the one line Hartford address on top of the barrel and "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45" on the left side. Casehardened frame, with two line patent dates and Rampant Colt logo on the left side and rear face of the cylinder. "VP" proofed trigger guard and checkered grips with Rampant Colts. In a Colt leatherette case, with Colt family crest in gold on the lid, "BEWARE OF COUNTERFEITS & PATENT INFRINGEMENTS" markings inside, and brown felt lining.

Excellent, with 90% of the slightly faded original blue finish. A bright gray patina is forming on the left side of the barrel and along the high edges, scattered spotting concentrated on the backstrap, scratching on the barrel, and some mild handling marks overall. Vivid case colors on the frame, with mild spotting. Grips are excellent, with some minor pressure dents. Light wear on the case. Mechanically excellent.

Partially refinished (cold blue on barrel and cylinder), with balance retaining half of the original blue finish, with a smooth gray patina forming on the barrel and a light brown on the backstrap, light pitting on the muzzle and cylinder, bright gray on the high edges, and scattered spotting and handling marks. Approximately 40% casehardening on the frame, which is silvering out on the edges and high areas. Grips are excellent, with light handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
