Manufactured in 1976, the serial number falls into the Second Issue production run. Features fixed ramp front and square notch rear sights, 6 round fluted cylinder, shrouded ejector rod and wraparound checkered walnut grips. The right side of the barrel is marked with the standard two line Colt address and the left is marked, "COBRA/.38 SPECIAL CTG.", with the Rampant Colt stamped on the left rear of the frame. The factory letter states that the gun was housed at the Colt factory as, "a sample and display revolver kept with the possibility of returning model to the line". The underside of the trigger guard is engraved with, "SHOW GUN". Complete with factory letter and "Colt Patent Repeating Pistols" orange velure French fitted case.

Near new, 99% plus original finish, with only the slightest of a drag line on the cylinder. The grips are in excellent/like new condition. The case is in good condition with the end having been marked in grease pencil to another gun and a file folder label affixed overtop with the serial number of this revolver written in. An all around excellent revolver with great provenance for the collector.
