This very desirable Zero Series P 38 pistol has the high-polish commercial blue finish. This is one of the Third Zero Series with the standard firing pin and extractor. The grips are black Bakelite with checkered panels with a rounded lanyard ring on the lower left side. The left side of the slide is marked with the Walther Banner followed by "P.38" and the serial number. The matching serial number is also located on the front of the barrel lug and the left side of the frame above the trigger guard. The locking block is numbered "285". The "eagle/359" Army acceptance mark is stamped on most of the components. The eagle firing proof is stamped on the right side of the slide flanked by "eagle/359" acceptance marks. The firing proof is marked on the left side of the locking block and the "eagle / 359 on the right side. The magazine has a dull blue finish and is marked "011003" on the left side above the floor plate and the spine has two "eagle/359" acceptance stamps.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The pistol retains approximately 95% of the original high polished blue finish with wear on the muzzle and front edges of the slide which are a gray patina with some pin prick type pitting. There is some high edge wear with pin prick pitting on the upper edge of the slide at the chamber and the front strap shows some thinning. The rear face of the rear sight has been painted red which can be easily removed. The grips are excellent with a few light handling marks, a few minor dings in the checkering with crisp checkering overall. The markings remain crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
