Manufactured circa 1863 to 1875. First type frame, with white bead front and two leaf folding rear sights on the barrel, along with the two line "FRANK WESSON WORCESTER MASS. / PAT'D OCT. 25, 1859 & NOV 11, 1862" markings between the rear sight and a mounting cutout near the breech. Nickel finished frame, with drilled and tapped upper tang, engraved trigger guard, nickel barrel catch trigger and double set firing trigger. Checkered straight grip buttstock, with a single sling swivel, right side patch box, and a crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good as rechromed (receiver, buttplate, and patch box) with traces of the faded original blue on the barrel and almost all of the 20th century chrome plating on the frame, buttplate and receiver. The barrel is showing a mixed brown and gray patina, with strong original blue in the protected areas, heavy spotting near the muzzle, bright gray along the raised edges and scattered handling marks. Some dings are visible on the frame, with a slightly oversized side plate and mild flaking. Stock is very good, with exception of cracking, scratches and mild varnish loss. Mechanically fine.
