Description:

Manufactured from 1883 to 1907. Has the standard one line top barrel flat Ilion address and the two line Hepburn patent on the frame. The bottom of the barrel is marked "45 70" forward of the forearm. The mismatched barrel (325 under forearm) has been shortened to current length. Dovetailed front sight with bead, drilled and tapped for a rear sight mount and two scope blocks. Upper tang drilled for a sight mount. Mounted on a round knob pistol grip stock with plain Schnabel forearm with ebony tip, checkered grip area and crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good as assembled and modified for target shooting (scope blocks tapped in barrel). The barrel retains about 25% of the original thinning blue finish with the beginnings of a brown patina strongest near the muzzle and gray patina forming on the high edges. The frame has been cleaned bright with a mottled gray patina on the underside. The buttplate has a smooth dark patina. There is some pin prick pitting mostly on the frame and minor pitting on the breechblock lever. The sanded and revarnished wood has some minor dings and scratches and a few minor gouges mostly concentrated on the forearm. Buttplate is slightly oversized. The checkering is mostly smooth.
