Manufactured from 1896 to 1916. Available in a wide range of calibers from 22 rimfire to 44-40 centerfire. Octagon to round barrels were standard with 26" for rimfire and 28" for centerfire. The barrel is marked "J. STEVENS A. & T. CO. / CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS. U.S.A. PAT. APR. 17. 94" on the top flat and "28.30" on the top left flat. The rear sight slot is empty with the original adjustable folding peep sight mounted to the tang. The front sight is a dovetailed Lyman bead sight. The serial number is stamped just ahead of the forearm on the bottom of the barrel. The barrel, action and Schnabel forearm are all matching. The rifle features the standard loop lever, small Swiss styled buttplate and pistol grip stock of the Model 47 and utilizes the number 44 1/2 action.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel retains about 98% of it's refinished blue with brown speckling through out. The action shows light Stevens case color on the top, but has a grey and brown speckled appearance for the balance. The lever has tuned mostly a smooth brown with the breechblock and hammer showing about 95% of their original blue. The buttplate is mainly grey with the balance a light brown smooth patina. The stock shows about 98% of it's original finish with a few pressure dents and minor handling marks. The action is fine with a bright bore.
