Description:

Founded as Lancaster in 1856, the city was renamed in 1867, when it also became the Capitol of the freshly minted State of Nebraska. Measuring 3 2/5" wide, the badge is in the 7-pointed star configuration, with a thick zig zag pattern applied around the outer edge, finely executed scroll and floral work covering most of the surface, and thin engraved shadow borders applied around the blue enamel lettering "LINCOLN, NEBR./ CONSTABLE/ LANCASTER CO.". The rear face of the badge is fitted with a spring loaded pin and locking collar, and marked "Ed. Jones & Co/ OAKLAND, CAL./ STERLING" in one of the points. Founded in 1898, the Ed Jones Company produces police and fire badges to this very day.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The silver shows a few tiny areas of spotting and an attractive aged patina. Engraving is sharp and well executed.
