Description:

Produced between 1891 and 1924 by the Computing Scale Company of Ohio, scales like these were used in stores for calculating values of products. The front side of the scale bears a small window onto the drum, which shows the measured weight in pounds, while the backside (towards the clerk) shows poundage and a multiplication table going from 4 through 60, automatically calculating the price of the commodity weighed. Painted hunter green with lighter green accents and brass fittings, blue and gold accents, the rear of the base is marked "DAYTON" in red shadowed gold fancy letters, "GOLD MEDALS" on the front above a set of 4 awards, a beveled glass window on either side of the drum housing showing the inner workings, "THE COMPUTING SCALE CO./ DAYTON, OHIO U.S.A." on both sides of the drum, and a pair of backlit red glass plates with deep etched markings "IF WE PLEASE, TELL YOUR FRIENDS" on the front and "NO LONG WAITS - NO SHORT WEIGHTS" on the rear. 31 1/2" tall and 19" wide, with extensive brass and raised scrollwork on the drum. A brass plate above the base lists the model number and patent information. With a thick oval glass tray, outlined with a green border

Rating Definition:

Very good as noted, with some light scratches, handling marks and spotting. Needs some adjustment. Electrically perfect.
