Description:

Produced by the Mills Novelty Company of Chicago. Measuring 74 1/2" tall from floor to top, 22 1/2" wide across the face, and 26" long at the base, with the finish being black enamel with yellow border accents around the base, and yellow with orange borders on the remainder. Footplate is gilt brass with a yellow border and raised "THE/ TAXI/ STAND" letters, below the face is a brass plate marked "DO YOU WEIGH/ WHAT YOU/ SHOULD?", and to the right is the coin slot. Nickel teardrop shape on the glass, shaped to cover a similar opening in the face, marked "MILLS/ 1 (cent)", and the plate itself is marked with weight graduations from zero to 299 pounds, with "YOUR EXACT WEIGHT" at the top, brief instructions and a pair of charts suggesting healthy weights based on height for men and women.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with some mild flaking of the enamel, particularly on the base. 65% of the gilt finish remains. Brass face is slightly turned to the left, and the glass turned to match. Not tested.
