This commemorative carbine is from the collection of Roy Rogers, famous cowboy star and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity stating that this carbine was the personal property of Roy Rogers and was most recently on display in the Roy Rogers - Dale Evans Museum in Branson, Missouri. The certificate is dated 2/25/09 and signed by Roy Rogers, Jr. The carbine is a standard one of one thousand commemorative. Included in this lot are the following items that were presented to Roy Rogers by J.W. Marriott on his birthday's). A two pen desk set with large 32-40 cartridge in the center on a brass platform inscribed "COMPLIMENTS OF VMW PRODUCTS, CORP. / Roy Rogers (in script)", a large brass 32-40 cartridge paper weight with a wooden stand with a brass plaque inscribed "JOHN WAYNE / COMMEMORATIVE / WINCHESTER / .32-40 "DUKE" / Roy Rogers (in script) 1983", a sterling sliver belt buckle with the likeness of the Duke, an American flag behind him, "JW" to the right and "ROY ROGERS 1978" in a panel at the bottom, a box of John Wayne 32-40 Winchester cartridges and the book "John Wayne America, Why I Love Her" by Billy Liebert and John Mitchum. Also with the lot is a paper back magazine "John Wayne & The Great Cowboy Heros" and three framed 8x10 photographs, Roy, Dale and an unidentified woman looking at this carbine, John Wayne and a movie still with John Wayne and three other actors.

Rating Definition:

Near new with a couple of small minor dings on the barrel and only light overall handling marks. A nice collection from the Roy Rogers - Dale Evans Museum commemorating one of Americas most famous cowboy stars John "The Duke" Wayne presented to Roy Rogers.
