Description:

This is an example of a British Tower percussion pistol with a belt hook attached to the left side of the stock. The left rear of the barrel is marked with two crown over crossed scepter proofs flanking the number "26". The lock is marked with a crown behind the hammer and "TOWER / 1863" in front of the hammer. Brass bead front and notch rear sights, iron swivel ramrod with a button head and mounted with a full one piece walnut stock with a flat brass end cap, brass trigger guard and brass buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The metal surfaces have been cleaned and have a mottled silver gray patina, with some flash pitting on the barrel. The brass has an even natural aged patina. The stock has had a coat of varnish applied at some time and remains very good with a few scattered minor dings and dents and sharp edges on the flats. The markings are crisp. The action is fine.
