Description:

1) No. 4 Type 1, 9 inch triangular blade with the knuckle bow having six pyramidal knobs running the length. The guard is marked "U.S./ L.F.&C./ 1917. Fitted with a walnut grips on which the inscription "SEP.12.1918/AT.METZ,FRACE" has been carved on the left side with a Greek style cross carved into the right side. Complete with a green leather scabbard that features metal fittings and is marked "JEWELL 1918" along the seam. 2) No. 4 Type 2, 9 inch triangular blade. Knuckle bow marked "U.S./ L.F.&C./ 1917", with seven pyramidal knobs. The green painted leather scabbard is marked "JEWELL 1918" along the seam. The throat was inspected by "M.S.".

Rating Definition:

1) Very fine. The knife shows 75% original thinning blue with edge wear, light spotting and a few minor dings. Grip is very good with the period carved inscription still crisp and legible. The scabbard is very good with some surface corrosion and minor pitting, leather is excellent with a few pressure marks and scratches. 2) Very fine, the knife shows 90% original thinning blue with a few areas of minor surface rust. The grip is excellent with some dings. Scabbard is very fine with minor surface rust and scratches in the leather.
