This early production Colt New Service revolver was manufactured in 1902. The top of the barrel bears the early style, two line Hartford address with 1884 and 1900 patent dates. The left side of the barrel is marked "NEW SERVICE 38 W.C.F." The Rampant Colt trademark encircled by "COLT'S / NEW SERVICE" is located on the left rear of the frame behind the cylinder latch. The matching serial number is stamped on the inside of the frame and crane. The revolver has the standard clipped blade front sight and grooved receiver rear sight. The butt is fitted with a lanyard loop. The revolver has the high polish commercial blue finish with niter blue trigger and casehardened hammer and ejector rod and it is fitted with checkered grips with a scalloped border, Fluer de Lis and diamond pattern.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 95% of the bright original high polish blue finish with some wear on the muzzle end of the barrel, thinning on the grip straps shows some smooth brown and gray, some thinning and wear on the cylinder and high edges. The hammer retains 90% of the vivid original case colors and almost all of the original bright fire blue finish remains on the trigger. Loss on both is due to cycling the action. The grips are very fine with some nicks in the checkering and a number of small dents and dings on the bottoms. The checkering remains crisp. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
