Description:

Manufactured from 1863 to 1864 with a total production of only about 3,000. The top of the barrel is marked "J.D. BLISS. NEW HAVEN - CT" and the serial number is marked on the left side of the frame under the grip. The matching number is written on the inside of each grip panel. The cylinder is marked "338". The barrel and cylinder are blue, the frame nickel plated and the hammer is casehardened. Fitted with smooth two piece rosewood grips.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel and cylinder retain 75% of the original thinning blue finish with areas of smooth brown patina. The frame retains 70% original silver finish with scattered light flaking and some "frosting". The hammer shows about 50% of the original vivid case colors. The grips are very good with almost all of the original finish remaining, some minor lower edge wear and a few scattered minor dings and dents. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
