Manufactured in 1885. This is an example of a Third Model 1873 variation with the distinctive integral dust cover rail machined to the top of the receiver. It has the standard two line barrel flat address/King's improvement patent dates marking and "44 Cal". "44 Cal" also appears on the brass cartridge elevator over a period marked "A". German blade front sight, adjustable buckhorn rear sight, full length magazine tube and a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a steel forend cap and steel crescent buttplate with compartment.

Rating Definition:

Very good. Overall the rifle has a mottled gray patina with some minor pitting contained to the barrel, magazine and dust cover rail. The wood is also very good with the exception of a few hairline cracks on the right side of the stock wrist and some minor dings and scratches overall. Mechanically fine.
