Description:

This is a unique equal leg arch style stained glass window depicting a portrait of President Abraham Lincoln. Consignor states that the window was removed from a fire damaged courthouse in Champaign Illinois circa 1950 and the window was manufactured circa 1900, quite possibly by one of the Ohio glass makers of the era. (High quality stained glass) The width of the window is 48 1/2 inches and the overall height is 38 inches. The 25 1/2 inch tall portrait of Lincoln is adorned with his iconic stovepipe hat and is constructed out of seven pieces of glass. The stars and stripes on the crossed American flags are vibrant. Writer believes this magnificent piece of Lincoln memorabilia should be the center piece of a museum in the great state of Illinois. We feel pleased to have been able to locate this item in California and have the honor to offer this at our auction.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The 100 plus year old, one-of-a-kind window is fragile, showing a few cracks in the lead and in the individual pieces of glass. There are some scattered period repairs to the lead and cracked glass on one of the flags has been mended. A couple of chips of glass are absent. Most of the crossed American flags stars and stripes accent the bust of President Lincoln.
