Description:

Excellent example of a post-Civil War late 1800s era clip point bowie knife. The blade is 8 3/4" long, 1/4" thick and 1 1/8" wide, with small "G.R" in an oval on the left ricasso, with a pointed oval crossguard, with a full length tang and contoured smooth ivory grips. With a leather covered and steel fitted sheath. Maker is unknown, possibly English or Continental European

Rating Definition:

Very good. A small chip is visible on the edge, with a mixed gray patina and mild spotting. Traces of original blue are visible on the guard around the blade. Sheath is fine, with the throat loose, scuffing on the leather and brown spotting on the metal. Grips are excellent, with some minor scratching and a fine aged color.
