Description:

Manufactured in 1920. The right side of the frame is roll-stamped "GOVERNMENT MODEL / C 123314" behind the slide stop hole. The assembler's number "82" is stamped on the right side of the trigger guard bow, with a "W" inspection mark and the Colt "triangle/VP" on the left. An "S", commercial sales mark, is stamped on the top of the frame behind the disconnector hole and on the underside of the barrel ahead of the lug. The barrel is blue with a polished chamber top and is stamped: "COLT 45 AUTO" on the lower left side of the chamber. The right side of the slide is roll-stamped "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 45" ahead of the ejection port, with the two line elongated block 1897-1913 patent dates, the Rampant Colt trademark and Colt's two line Hartford address on the left side. The cardboard carton lid has a white, "GOVERNMENT MODEL" end label. The end of the carton bottom has a blue label with white lettering and border that reads "COLT AUTOMATIC PISTOL./Rimless Smokeless/.45". There is no serial number visible on the bottom of the carton. With a bilingual instruction label inside the lid and a gray-covered instruction manual.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The pistol retains approximately 98% of the original commercial blue finish, showing minor edge wear on the front of the slide and muzzle, finish loss on the lower edge of the frame and the main spring housing and minor scratches below the slide stop and on the sides of the slide. The stocks have some handling wear and the stock screws have some finish loss. The magazine retains about 95% of the blue finish. All of the markings on the slide and frame are sharp. The correct period carton and instruction manual are in about good condition. The royal blue cover is flaking around the corners of the lid and bottom, there is a break in one end on the lid and the inside of the lid has been reinforced with glue. The instruction manual shows handling wear but is in very good overall condition. This is an excellent example of a 1920 production Colt .45 Government Model Pistol.
