This is an example of a Colt Model 1908 pocket automatic pistol with an original factory box and papers that was manufactured in 1926. These pistols were essentially the same as the 32 caliber Pocket Hammerless Automatic Pistol but chambered for the more potent 380 ACP cartridge, also known as the 9mm Browning short. Colt manufactured approximately 138,000 in the 380 caliber for civilian sales and an unknown number were sold to the military. This specific pistol was manufactured in 1926 and the left side of the slide is marked "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. / PATENTED APR. 20,1897, DEC. 22, 1903" with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations. The serial number is located on the left side of the frame. The right side of the slide is marked "COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE.380 HAMMERLESS". The Colt factory inspector proof of "51" on the right upper front of the trigger guard bow and the left side is marked with a "1" over the "VP" triangle proof. It is equipped with fixed sights, magazine marked "CAL .380 / COLT" on the floor plate and checkered walnut grips with silver Colt medallions. The pistol is complete with an original Colt hinged lid box with a handwritten serial number on the bottom, the correct labels affixed to the inside of the lid and in the bottom of the box and the original Colt instruction manual. The outside of the box has the correct white with green lettering end label on the lid and green label with white lettering on the base.

Rating Definition:

Refinished with 99% of the nickel finish remaining showing some overall scattered light scuffs and scratches and a couple very small areas of pitting under the finish directly ahead of the left grip panel. There is some pitting under the finish under each grip panel. The grips are near new with only a couple of very light bruises and sharp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. The box is very fine with some edge and corner wear and all labels are fully intact.
