The Hydro-Coil stock was a combination hydraulic cylinder/coil spring recoil reduction system that had caught the eye of John Olin, owner of Winchester, shooter and hunter of some note. They were available in both ivory, like this particular Model 12, or natural brown colored plastic. Although the design was a personal favorite of Olin, very few were manufactured. This shotgun has dual bead sights on a vent rib. The barrel has a 2 3/4 inch chambered, choked full. Standard Winchester markings on the left side of the barrel, with single factory proofs on the barrel and receiver. Bright bolt and loading gate, with trigger mounted safety. Ivory colored plastic pistol grip stock with black colored checkering, black grip cap and Hydro-Coil cheekpiece and buttplate.

Excellent. The shotgun retains approximately 97% original blue finish with minor muzzle wear, and a patch of smooth gray patina near the trigger, along with some scattered minor scratches and minor slide wear. The stock and forearm are very good with a minor crack on top of the grip area near the frame and a few hairline cracks near the lower tang, along with some minor scratches. Overall the checkering is crisp. The plastic has an even yellow appearance.
