Description:

Introduced in the 1960s it is estimated that fewer than 10,000 of these pistols have been produced by the eight manufacturers involved. This example was produced by TDE of El Monte, California, with standard markings, ramp blade front sight and adjustable rear sight. Fitted with black checkered plastic grips. adjustable trigger, with custom reshaped trigger guard with blue insert dot. According to the consignor's notes, this pistol was returned to the factory in the early 1970s because the consignor fixed the jamming problem that shooters were experiencing with this type of pistol during rapid fire shooting. The pistol was returned to the consignor after Harry Sanford and other Auto Mag engineers examined the pistol. This gun has been shot by Jeff Cooper, Ray Chapman, Elgin Gates, Jose Poris, Lee Juers, John Adams, Burt Stringfellow, and several magazine editors and has won over 30 shooting trophies. Included is an unmarked hard carrying case with uncut foam lining, magazine, and an extra 8" TDE produced .44 AMP barrel with the vent rib removed.

Rating Definition:

Very good as incomplete (the pistol is missing the firing pin spring, extractor, and ejector). The pistol has some scattered minor handling marks on the stainless steel. The grips are very good with some minor scuffs (mostly on the left panel) and some scattered light handling marks. Overall the checkering is sharp. When assembled slide does not retract properly. The extra barrel has a series of crude holes drilled (not completely through) on top near the chamber and on the underside near the muzzle.
