A) Rare E.A. Prescott Pocket Model Revolver, Serial Number 20

Description:

Manufactured from 1862 to 1867, with several hundred of each of the various styles produced. This Pocket Model has a brass bird's head butt frame and cylinder locking notches on the front. Top barrel flat is marked "E.A. PRESCOTT / PAT'D OCT 2 1860". Matching number on frame, barrel, both grips, and cylinder.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The barrel retains 30% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina with some minor spotting. The cylinder has a smooth brown-gray patina with some scattered minor pitting. The frame retains traces of original silver plating in the protective areas with the exposed brass having an even aged patina. The back of the right grip panel has been repaired, otherwise the grips are very good with some mild handling marks. Mechanically fine.

Description:

Manufactured from 1862 to 1867. This Pocket Model has a long brass frame with cylinder locking notches at the front. Top barrel flat has the 1860 patent date, with the one line address over the 1860 patent dated on the left flat. Matching number on barrel, frame, cylinder pin, both grips, and cylinder.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel has a mottled brown-gray patina with traces of original blue finish in the protected areas. The cylinder retains 70% bright blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina with streaks of gray. The brass has an attractive even aged mustard patina. The grips are very fine with some wear on the bottom edges and a repaired chip on the left panel near the frame, along with some minor dings and scratches.

Description:

Manufactured from 1863 to 1870. The top barrel flat is stamped with one line Pond address and 1863 patent date marking. Blue with silver plated brass frame and casehardened trigger and hammer. Smooth grips with a small screwdriver fitted into the underside of butt. Matching number on barrel, cylinder, frame, and hammer spring.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 95% bright original high polish blue finish with loss mostly on the cylinder pin and on the barrel at the muzzle, with a strong cylinder drag line and some minor spotting near the muzzle. The frame retains nearly 20% of original silver plating in the protected areas with the exposed brass having a fine aged patina. The hammer retains some vivid case colors. The grips are excellent with some minor ding and scratches. The firing pin is absent, otherwise action functions properly.
