A) European Copy of a Colt Model 1849 Revolver

Description:

The top of the barrel is marked "ADDRESS COL SAML NEW MODEL U.S. PATENTED" flanked by cross keys and "CAL 38" is stamped on the left side of the frame. The cylinder has a train bridge and harbor scene with an Liege ELG proof. There are scattered letter proofs, with matching number serial number on the trigger guard, backstrap, and grips (number on trigger guard and backstrap stamped under the left grip panel). Fitted with two piece grips.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 97% of the the high polish blue finish showing some thinning and spotting on top of the barrel and muzzle area. The frame and loading lever retain 98% of the original case colors. The trigger guard and backstrap retain most of the silver plating that is just beginning to age. There is some scattered minor pitting on the cylinder and loading lever. The slightly undersized grips are fine with some scattered minor dings (mostly on the left grip panel).

Description:

Manufactured from 1871 to 1879. The top of the barrel is marked "WHITNEYVILLE ARMORY CT. U.S.A." and "NS" marked on the left side of the frame under the grip. Fluted 7-shot cylinder and brass frame, with ivory grips. Matching number on frame, barrel, cylinder.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 97% of the original nickel finish with some scattered minor flaking (more prevalent on the cylinder) with limited minor pitting on the frame. There is a chip missing on the bottom of the left grip panel, otherwise the grips are fine with some light scratches. The ivory has a fine aged color with a nice grain pattern.
