Displayed in a 6 3/8" square frame, the gatling gun plate is from a 1883 Colt Gatling Gun. Typically this plate would be affixed to the breech of the barrel housing and would house the spirit level. The spirit level was used in the sighting process. The plate measures 3 5/8" diameter and the entire edge is engraved. There is an oval hole in the center of the plate where the spirit level would rest, with two smaller holes above and below. On either side of the oval hole are engraved flourishes. In big block letters is "GATLING GUN / PATENTED", at the top and bottom of the plate, with larger screw holes on the outside edge.

In excellent original condition, will upgrade a $75000 gun to a $125000 gun!
