Description:

This is an excellent example of a 1918 dated Erfurt military luger that is complete with a matching wood base magazine and brown 1917 dated leather holster and spare non-matching magazine. This was the main side arm used by the German Army in WWI and WWII. It was manufactured by the Imperial German Arsenal at Erfurt and has a chamber date of "1918" with the toggle marked with the "Crown / ERFURT" logo. The right side of the barrel extension is stamped with three crown over German Script letter proofs next to the Imperial Eagle proof, with a small Crown over "RC" proof and the left side only the serial number. The top of the barrel is marked with a single Imperial Eagle proof on right side, with a crown over "RC" and crown over script letter proof on the left side. The underside of the barrel has the serial number above the bore diameter markings. The thumb safety and the extractor are correctly marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" respectively. It has the standard front and rear sight with the lanyard loop and stock lug. The trigger, magazine release, thumb safety and take down lever are straw colored. It has the walnut checkered grips and a matching wood base, nickel plated magazine marked "4069 m" along with the appropriate proof and a "+". The various parts of the pistol have the correct Crown over script letter, or crown over "RC" proof or both, which is normal for all Erfurt manufactured Lugers. Complete with an original WWI brown leather holster that is stamped on the inside of the flap, "J.M. ECKERT/1917/ULM a/D. along with the name of PFC. Edward Chaffee pencil marked in several places. The spare magazine is also an original WWI nickel plated wood base magazine that is marked with only a "22" on the base. It has the all rust blued metal parts with the straw colored small parts.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% plus of the original finish overall with thinning and wear on the edges and high spots with slightly more wear on the left front sight base, the front edges of the frame rails, and the side plate hump. It retains 75% of the original straw color on the small parts. The grips are in excellent condition with nice checkering overall with some light freshening of the checkering on both sides. The holster is in excellent condition with slight scuffing of the leather on the magazine pouch and the toe with excellent tight stitching, very nice color overall and a clear and sharp marker's stamp. As noted the pistol has all matching numbers to include the one magazine. Note: The very top front edge of the breech bolt has been chipped on each side of the broken extractor which moves freely up and down.
