The left side of the slide is marked with the Walther Banner followed by "P.38" and the serial number. The matching serial number is also located on the front of the barrel lug and the left side of the frame above the trigger guard. The locking block is numbered "699". The "eagle/359" Army acceptance mark is stamped on most of the components. The eagle firing proof is stamped on the right side of the slide flanked by "eagle/359" acceptance marks. The firing proof is marked on the left side of the locking block and the "eagle/359" on the right side. The magazine has a dull blue finish and is numbered to the gun.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with approximately 70% of the original blue finish, showing a gray patina on the muzzle, front strap and in patches on the chamber and slide, mild wear along the edges, and numerous light scattered pitting patches. Grips are excellent, with a few handling marks and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
