This is a very nice example of a Holland & Holland royal double rifle. The barrels are chambered for the 303 British cartridge and feature a hooded ramped front sight and three leaf (two folding) rear sight mounted on the quarter rib. There are three holes drilled into the top of the rib for scope base mounting. The barrels are marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND 98 NEW BOND STREET LONDON" on the right and " WINNERS OF ALL THE "FIELD" RIFLE TRIALS, LONDON" on the left. There is a sling swivel eye mounted on the underside of the rib. The barrels, trigger guard and break lever are blue, the remaining parts are casehardened. The frame, locks, trigger guard, forearm hardware and break lever are nicely engraved with broad and fine scroll designs. Each lock is marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" and the bottom of the frame is marked "THE ROYAL / HAMMERLESS". The upper tang extends onto the comb. Double triggers, cocking indicators, tang mounted safety with gold "SAFE" and a fire blue lever mounted above the safety that gives the shooter the option of the safety being automatic or manual. Mounted with a checkered splinter forearm and pistol grip stock with an engraved metal grip cap, cheekpiece, serrated buttplate, gold initial oval inscribed "crown / E&W", and a sling swivel stud. The rifle is complete in a hard leather case with leather straps and handle, green lining with Holland & Holland label affixed to the inside of the lid and a Buehler scope base.
