This is a very nice example of a late WWII Japanese Type 99 Sniper rifle as produced by the Nagoya Arsenal, that is consecutively numbered to the gun above. This rifle is fitted with a second pattern 4X externally adjustable sniper scope. The top of the receiver has the Chrysanthemum over the Kanji markings for "Type 99" and the rear receiver ring is marked with the Nagoya arsenal proof over serial number 8205. The Kanji markings on top are intact, however the mum has been stuck twice, but not ground, indicating capture in the field. It has the matching bolt assembly to include the firing pin and matching front barrel band. The scope is correctly marked on the ocular end "4 X7/manufacturers mark/ 18050", with various Kanji markings on the side of the scope mount. The locking plate on the back side is unnumbered and the rear portion has an assembly number of "97". The scope is complete with an original canvas carrying case for the 4X scope. It is fitted with the standard front sight with the adjustable rear sight without antiaircraft wings. The stock is a late pattern without the drain hole and both the stock and handguards retain their original WWII finish with a couple of very faint Kanji markings on the underside of the stock. The rifle is complete with an original leather sling.

Excellent overall with 98% of the original late WWII blue/black finish on the rifle with minor edge and high spot wear. The stock and hand guards all retain 98% of their original WWII finish with just some minor pressure dents and handling marks overall. The scope also retains 98% of its original black painted finish with clear optics that show a few specs insid. The sling is very good condition. This rifle is consecutively serialized to another in this auction (8204)!
