Description:

This is a scarce example of a "8000" series pre-war 1904 Army contract Papa Nambu pistol as made by the Tokyo Gas and Electric Company. This specific pistol falls into the second serial number range that was produced between 1925 and 1928. This series of pistols were produced starting with serial number 8000 pistol with only approximately 8549 produced making this one of the rarer of the Papa Nambu contract pistols. The right side of the upper receiver has Tokyo Arsenal markings that consist of the four intertwined cannon barrels next to the three Kanji characters/inspector markings over the serial number "8115". The top of the chamber has the circled "TGE" markings of the Tokyo Gas and Electric company that produced this series of pistol. These pistols have the solid backstrap (not cut for a shoulder stock) and are equipped with adjustable tangent rear sight on top graduated from 100- 500 meters and a fixed inverted "v" front sight, and the grip safety on the front of the grip strap. The grips are the original checkered hardwood versions. One magazine with aluminum floor plate numbered "8185" on the spine.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 60% of the faded original blue finish remaining overall with most of the blue on the upper sections of the pistol. The upper portion of the pistol (from the trigger guard and upper receiver/barrel section) shows nice original blue finish with some slight oxidation, very minute pin prick pitting and browning from use and age. The grip straps show light pitting overall with a heavy browned patina finish from exposure and use. The matching grips are also still in very good condition with good checkering on both sides with only a couple of minor nicks. The grips safety spring is broken and the bolt and cocking knob are not matching but have a consistent matching finish. Still a very scarce, and very limited production, TG&E contract Papa Nambu pistol.
