Description:

Remington produced approximately 15,000 of these revolvers from 1860 to 1862. The serial number on this revolver would indicate a late production near the end in 1862. The U.S. Government purchased about 1,000 of the 15,000 revolvers. The top barrel flat is marked "BEALS' PATENT. SEPT. 14. 1858 / MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS' ILION. N.Y." and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel. The left barrel flat, left side front and rear of the frame and the cylinder are marked with the "C" inspection mark. German silver cone front sight on a dovetail base, notch in frame rear sight, brass trigger guard and fitted with two-piece walnut grips with a light boxed script "CGC" cartouche on the left side. Matching numbers on the barrel and frame.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The metal surfaces have a brown patina with some minor pitting on the cylinder, the right side of the frame ahead of the cylinder and on the barrel. The trigger guard has an aged patina. The grips are also very good with small chip on the left toe and some light dings. The cartouche is light, but readable. The markings remain crisp and clear. The action is fine.
